Looking out for our Designer-Makers and clients in projects
Working with designers throughout my career since the mid 80s I’ve seen most scenarios there could be playing out around designer-client engagement and the resulting dynamics and behaviours that are formed between them.
And we know how the design industry has debated the do’s and don’ts and the whys and wherefores of best practice between both sides.
In my experience, when a designer-client relationship isn’t formed well from the outset it’s sometimes the designer or agency that could have conducted proceedings in a more constructive and forthcoming way by sharing key information to facilitate better contracting with the client.
And sometimes clients have taken advantage of their position in the relationship and requested or allowed the willingness of an designer or agency to ‘show some ideas’ to facilitate a project opportunity, which can result in the designer or agency investing their time speculatively and ultimately losing out on appropriate remuneration.
Everything I’ve learnt about working with designers, client service, process, project management and being proactive is poured into Teer & Co to the betterment of how custom and bespoke projects run, and how we look out for both our Designer-Makers and clients by taking the middle ground and steering the proceedings.
So it’s always rewarding to receive feedback from our Designer-Makers or a client that demonstrates the value we can derive from simply being on the front foot to establish projects and relationships correctly from the outset.
